The process of cadmium plating mainly consists of three steps: surface pretreatment, plating treatment and post-treatment.

Surface pretreatment is a very important part of the plating process, which determines the adhesion and finish of the plating layer. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Cleaning: clean the titanium alloy surface of oil, dust and other impurities, usually using alkaline washing, acid washing and other methods, so that the surface to achieve a certain degree of cleanliness.
  2. Degreasing: Use chemical agents or solvents to remove the oil on the surface.
  3. Acid washing: Surface oxides and rust are removed to make the surface smooth and clean1.

Electroplating treatment

Electroplating treatment is to deposit cadmium metal onto the surface of titanium alloy by electroplating to form a uniform cadmium plating layer. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Plating solution preparation: Select a suitable plating solution and configure it to a certain concentration and temperature.
  2. Anode preparation: Select an anode material containing cadmium metal and install it in the plating tank.
  3. Electroplating: Place the pre-treated titanium alloy workpiece as the cathode into the electroplating tank, energize it for electroplating, and control the time and current density to deposit cadmium metal onto the surface of the titanium alloy to form a uniform electroplated layer1.

Post-treatment

Post-treatment is to clean, remove impurities and carry out surface treatment and other steps on the products after plating to ensure the quality and performance of the plating layer. The specific steps are as follows:

  1. Cleaning: The plated product is cleaned to remove plating solution and impurities from the surface.
  2. Decontamination: Remove hydrogen and impurities on the surface to ensure the quality of the plating layer.
  3. Surface treatment: Make the surface of the plating layer smoother and more uniform by further polishing, grinding and other processes1.

Through these steps, cadmium plated titanium alloy parts with excellent corrosion resistance and wear resistance can be obtained.
