The Walking Wake and Iron Leaves Tera Raid Battle Event was one of many surprises announced on Pokémon Day, and perhaps the most surprising thing was it kicked off right away. From Feb. 27 until Mar. 12, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet players will be able to encounter them as many times as they like—earning plenty of high-tier rewards in the process.

But does that also mean you can catch more than one of them to store or even trade with friends?
Image via Game FreakLike other Tera Raid Battle Events, including Unrivaled Charizard and Unrivaled Pikachu, players can only catch one Walking Wake or Iron Leaves. Catching additional ones is not possible.
As mentioned above, players will still be able to take part in as many Walking Wake or Iron Leaves raids as they like whether it’s to help their friends catch Walking Wake or Iron Leaves or farm items, but they won’t be able to catch it themselves.
Those who miss out, however, might have a chance to catch Walking Wake or Iron Leaves down the road if the event happens again—but only if they haven’t caught it the first time around.
If Nintendo and Game Freak allow them to spawn in certain zones once the event is over, it might be possible to catch more, but that hasn’t been confirmed, so it seems unlikely.

Title, in case anyone isn't aware yet.
They don't count as Mythicals, so they can be used in Ranked.

This is not a matter of opinion, this is just objectively horrendous game design.
This isn't even particularly scummy in the pay to win sort of way. They just deliberately f***ed people over for no reason. This benefits nobody.

I mentioned it before, but why couldn't they just have those two be a final "reward" encounter in Area Zero, as a little tease for Indigo Disk.

GF being anti consumer? Must be a day that ends in y.
My opinion is often contrary to popular belief, and I don't care! If your feelings are hurt it's cause deep down you know I'm right.

That’s surprising, I assumed all three of the version’s trio would be in the same story quest. That’s really dumb.
The difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense.

Usually, they are anti-consumer in a way that benefits them in some way. Stab the consumer in the back for a quick buck. Buy more merch, or go someplace where you can buy more merch. Buy a movie ticket, get an Arceus. You know, stuff like that.

This doesn't benefit them at all..

I guess they will be forever excluded from VGC formats while their respective two siblings get to run amok? That would be silly but also wouldn’t surprise me.

I think it does benefit them. Classic FOMO, innit?Folks who wanna play on-cart PvP or VGC now don't just have to buy the games, they also have to keep a constant eye on events in case they release a new meta staple for a limited time only.Buy all the games, all the DLC's, and miss no events if you wanna be able to keep up. Would be a shame if you missed out on something and now return to a game you can't play as well as your foes because they did get all Pokemon, and you did not.
They're on our left, they're on our right, they're in front of us, and they're behind us. They can't get away this time!
